A Special Moment with Oscar Competitor Colin Firth and The King’s Speech

It’s “Oscar week” here in Hollywood. The town can be buzzing, all the streets are usually blocked off (I live near the Kodak Theater), and the KCRW Oscar swimming pool is in full effect. I acknowledge that every year, I go to Oscar parties not so much for the real awards, but to see buddies and have dinner!
This year, I am looking forward to one category in particular though. Nominated for Best Actor or actress is Colin Firth and, last tumble I had the privilege regarding hosting him on KCRW’s Invitee DJ Project. Since it’s Oscar week, I desired to share it again along with tell you something that Mr. Firth and i also did not talk about in the treatment, but was palpable in the room.
Your day he came to KCRW was your morning after The King’s Speech ended up shown to its first general public audience ever at the Telluride Film Festival.
That night after the screening was over, KCRW (and also Wall Street Journal) video critic, Joe Morgenstern, accidentally routed an email to his entire email list that was apparently designed only for the art section at the Journal. In it this individual raved about the Oscar worthiness associated with Mr. Firth’s performance and about your excellence of the film. Joe quickly sent an email apologizing for the group email.
Because I was meeting Mr. Firth the next morning, I instantly reached out to Joe to obtain his take and he talked. The next morning Colin Firth came to KCRW and also was ebullient. I realized that we were in this special pocket of time exactly where not a word had been created or broadcast about this video yet but that the excitement about it was overwhelming. It would really soon be discussed advertising nauseum, but at KCRW we had this brief moment to enjoy his / her excitement with him by means of music.
His session is stuffed with warmth, humor, wit, along with exhilaration. I feel so fortuitous that we were able to have him to be able to KCRW at that amazing moment in time regarding him.
